Burgundy Aligoté
This Burgundy Aligoté is an excellent value for money for a baptism or any other event.
This is particularly the wine used in the receptions organized by the Olympia in Paris.
Aligoté is the second white variety grown in Burgundy after Chardonnay.
Aligoté wine has been made famous thanks to Kir: Crème de Cassis and white wine.
The Aligoté grape, which gives its name to this wine, makes it possible to make a fresh and fruity wine, very pleasant as an aperitif (with or without blackcover cream) but also as an accompaniment to seafood or shellfish. It is a wine to drink young, in 3 to 4 years.
Domaine le Meix de la Croix creates a reputed Burgundy Aligoté, regularly awarded. The 2012 vintage is no exception, with a fresh and charming wine with a pale gold colour and aromas of apple and white flowers. A note of hazelnut also appears in the final.
Service temperature: 10 to 12 degrees Fahrenheit

ManualBourgogne aligoté is a delicious white wine that is young, stylish and is a little different. It is pale gold in color and offers a well-balanced taste, and ranges from a fruity bouquet with notes of apple and lemon to a more floral palette. In the mouth, this vibrant wine tickles the taste buds.
Although Bourgogne aligoté is traditionally associated with drinking Kir, the local Bourgogne specialty of white wine mixed with crème de cassis blackcurrant liqueur, it has its own qualities and deserves to be enjoyed in its own right. It is a perfect match for grilled fish, and its liveliness and citrus notes stand up well to the saltiness of oysters and strong goat cheese.
Bourgogne aligoté is one of the rare wines that does not overpower salads, tabouleh or steamed vegetables. It is also a worthy companion to traditional local creations such as gougères pastries, snails with garlic butter and jambon persillé, a terrine of cold ham in parsley aspic.
Serving temperature: 11 to 12°C.
The Aligoté grape has been grown in Bourgogne since the 17th century and flourishes here. Whether from the Saône-et-Loire, the Côte-d’Or or the Yonne, it faithfully reflects the diversity of its terroirs. It was granted its own AOC, Bourgogne aligoté, in 1937.
Although it is planted in very different winegrowing areas, the Aligoté grape is generally found on limestone soils, often combined with marl or clay. Aligoté is also suited to hilly locations and higher altitudes.

Jean Pierre Berthenet has successfully taken over and developed this estate of more than 20 hectares of vines owned in Montagny. He is now passing the torch to his son François.
Serious and reliable producer who develops a diversified and very good range of Montagny and Montagny Premiers Crus, which is regularly awarded (see the Hachette guide). Don't hesitate to discover their other appellations from the Côte Chalonnaise, especially in red with a very good quality Givry. Also of note is a novelty that will interest lovers of purity: a Bourgogne Chardonnay without added sulphites (sulphur).
The Montagny and Montagny 1er cru wines of Domaine Berthenet are fine and concentrated, very representative of the great white wines of this beautiful appellation in the south of Burgundy.
In 2020, Domaine Berthenet was named winemaker of the year by the Hachette guide, a reference in France for wine buying guides.
