A very beautiful result for this Pernand-Vergelesses from a 2022 vintage perfect for Burgundies, worked with precision by the Rollin estate.
This cuvée comes from different sectors of the appellation. Two-thirds of the plots are located halfway up the hillsides, exposed mainly to the east, on shallow clay-limestone soils. The remaining third comes from plots located at the entrance to the village, facing south, on slightly deeper and more clayey, "warmer" soils. Most of this vineyard was planted in the mid-1980s.
The nose of this wine explodes with aromas of fresh red and black fruits. The palate is ample and concentrated, supported by supple tannins and refreshing minerality.
A pleasant wine that is easy to pair with its fruity side with a leg of lamb, roast veal, beef skewers... or a beautiful platter of pressed cheeses!
Full, round Burgundy red wine: pasta and risotto, grilled or roasted pork, roasted veal, sauce or pan-fried, Lamb, poultry, rabbit, roast beef, game birds, liver, kidneys in sauce, skewers, kebab, woks, camembert, brie

In red, Pernand-Vergelesses has dark ruby lines with intense purple reflections. The nose opens with strawberry, raspberry and violet as well. Older, the wine draws on undergrowth and spices. The palate is conciliatory with solid shoulders and well-integrated tannins. Fleshy and full-bodied, its fat gives it all the necessary harmony.
In white, white gold and pale yellow are tinged with gold with age. The aromas of white flowers (hawthorn, acacia) announce with time amber and honey, spices again. On the palate, a mineral, harmonious and very pleasant wine.
Sommelier's tip
Red: solid and luscious, it is a great seducer. With its virile but superbly melted tannins, its preference is naturally for meats with relatively strong flavours such as roasted, braised or sauced veal, leg of lamb, game birds and grilled pork. A roast beef will also succumb to its character. On the cheese platter: Mont d'Or, Vacherin,
Tomme de Savoie, Reblochon, Cîteaux.
Serving temperature: 15 to 16 °C.
White: lively, light and playful, it is the great wine of sushi, which it will awaken while respecting their double crunchy and mellow texture. He enjoys the company of freshwater fish in white sauce, or pasta and seafood risottos, which he puts into perspective thanks to his vivacity. He also appreciates cheeses from the Gruyère, Blue and Goat family.
Serving temperature: 10 to 12 °C.
Situation
Nestled at the confluence of two valleys, Pernand-Vergelesses is located on the heights of the Côte de Beaune. It is the "Montagne de Corton" which is home to three villages and the same passion shared with Aloxe-Corton and Ladoix-Serrigny on a remarkable wine-growing site: Corton in red, Corton-Charlemagne in white, two prestigious Grands Crus. On the hillside and with its steep streets, Pernand has a smiling face. A cultural mecca: renovator of the theatre in France (the RRF, the Vieux Colombier in Paris), craftsman during the 1920s of one of the first "decentralisations" of dramatic art, Jacques Copeau
(1879-1949) lived there for a long time and gave birth to the adventure of the Copiaus (great actors were trained in this "school troupe" in a winegrower's spirit). This work remains alive.
Terroirs
Most of the vines are exposed to the east, south and a few to the northeast. The altitude: between 250 and 300 meters. At the base of the hillside, clay-limestone soils mixed with "chaillots" (siliceous residues of flint limestone). They are loose, rich in potash and phosphoric acid. Halfway up the hillside, the stony limestone soil is suitable for Pinot Noir. At the top, marly, brown or yellowish soils are devoted to Chardonnay.
